Orbis trio, piano trio
“…the technical sophistication, interpretive mastery and high artistic intelligence of the members of this artistic ensemble allow it to devote itself to large-scale trio canvases, which place high demands on the protagonists in the interpretative solutions of complex tectonic structures..”
The Orbis trio was founded in 2008. All of its members are laureates of international competitions and have extensive experience as soloists and chamber players.
The Orbis trio soon ranked among the most successful chamber ensembles not only in the Czech Republic, but also on a European scale, when in 2009 it became the laureate of four international competitions: “Premio Anguissola Scotti” in Val Tidone (Italy), “5th International Johannes Brahms Chamber Music Competition” in Gdańsk (Poland), “International Chamber Music Competition” in Hamburg, Germany and “Gianni Bergamo Classic Music Award” in Lugano, Switzerland.
The Orbis trio is also a laureate of the 2010 Bohuslav Martinů Competition. At this competition, it also won the prize for the interpretation of the work of B. Martinů and the Prague Spring Prize. In 2010, the expert jury elected it the winner of the prestigious "Czech Chamber Music Association Award".
The Orbis trio was greatly inspired by private lessons with master Josef Suk. The Orbis trio deepened its experience by consulting with other outstanding artists, such as Ivan Klánský (Guarneri Trio), Václav Bernášek (Kocián Quartet), Daniel Veis (Prague Trio) and Ivan Moravec.
The Orbis trio regularly performs concerts in many European countries (Great Britain, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, Italy, Slovakia). In 2016, the Orbis trio undertook a successful tour of Japan, and a second tour is currently in negotiations. It is regularly invited to major international festivals (Prague Spring, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festspiele, Festspiele Europäische Festwoche, Festival EuroArt Prague, Smetana Days, Chopin Festival, Val Tidone Festival, Suk's Musical Štiřín, Janáček's Hukvaldy, etc.), and also to perform in chamber cycles of the most important Czech orchestras - the Czech Philharmonic, FOK and PKF Prague Philharmonia. In the 2014/15 season, the Orbis trio was the resident ensemble of the Kettlesyard chamber music series in Cambridge, UK.
For Czech Radio, the Orbis trio recorded a number of compositions, especially the complete piano trios of A. Dvořák and F. Škroup. For Norddeutsche Rundfunk, the Orbis trio recorded compositions by J. Haydn, A. Dvořák and F. Mendelssohn-Bartholdy. The Artesmon label released a CD by the Orbis trio with recordings of A. Dvořák and A. Babadjanian.
