Quasi Trio

Quasi Trio, an ensemble founded in 2014, is formed by clarinetist David Šimeček, cellist Judita Škodová, and pianist Kateřina Ochmanová—three prominent personalities of the Czech music scene with extensive experience from international competitions, studies abroad, and engagements with leading Czech institutions (such as the National Theatre Prague, Prague Phil, etc.). The trio completed a master’s degree in chamber music at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (HAMU), followed by a two-year residency at the CRR in Paris in the class of the renowned Trio Wanderer, and later postgraduate studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (MDW).

The ensemble is a laureate of several international competitions, including the Bohuslav Martinů Foundation Competition and the International Plovdiv Chamber Music Competition.

Thanks to its distinctive instrumentation—clarinet, cello, and piano—Quasi Trio focuses on a dramaturgically diverse repertoire ranging from Classical works to contemporary music. In addition to the core repertoire for this ensemble, the trio actively collaborates with contemporary Czech composers such as Eliška Cílková, Lukáš Sommer, and Zdeněk Merta, while also seeking out genre-crossing and unconventional projects.

Quasi Trio has performed on numerous prestigious stages and festivals in the Czech Republic and abroad and collaborates with the European platform European Chamber Music Academy (ECMA). The ensemble has appeared, for example, on Austrian Radio ORF, on Radio West in a broadcast from the Amare cultural centre in The Hague, in the refectory of the Basilica of Santa Croce in Florence, and at Villa Winternitz in Prague. The trio also regularly participates in projects of leading Czech orchestras, including the Czech Philharmonic, PKF – Prague Philharmonia, and the Pardubice Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra.
