Roman Patočka, violin

Roman Patočka, concertmaster of the Prague Symphony Orchestra FOK, is one of the exceptional personalities of the younger generation of soloists. After studying at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, he deepened his experience at music institutions abroad, in Utrecht and Lübeck. In 2009, he completed his master's degree with Stefan Picard at the Musikhochschule Hanns Eisler in Berlin. Outside of his studies, he has participated in many master classes led by leading world soloists, such as at the International Music Academy in Montpellier (Ruggiero Ricci, Stephen Shipps), in Semmering (Hagai Shaham, Erich Gruenberg), Ravinia (Miriam Fried, Menahem Pressler, Leon Fleisher) and Keshet Eilon in Israel (Ida Haendel, Georgy Pauk, Vadim Gluzman).
Patočka was able to make perfect use of this wide range of studies at many music competitions. He is a winner and laureate of the Prague Spring, Leopold Mozart in Augsburg, Pablo de Sarasate in Pamplona, ​​Václav Huml in Zagreb, Flame in Paris, Max Rostal in Berlin and others.
As a soloist, he has performed with renowned orchestras in our country and abroad, such as the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, Hamburg Symphony Orchestra, Nagoya Philharmonic Orchestra, Navarra Symphony Orchestra, Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra, Czech Radio Symphony Orchestra, Prague Chamber Philharmonic. He has collaborated with Charles Mackerras, Jiří Bělohlávek, Jakub Hrůša, Tomáš Netopil, Martin Lebel, Georg Fritzsch and others.
In the 2008/2009 season, he was the concertmaster of the Deutsche Smypnohy Orchetsr in Berlin.
Roman Patočka is a member of the Eben Trio and the Talich Quartet. As a chamber musician, he collaborates with top Czech and foreign performers: Jiří Bárta, Igor Ardashev, Radek Baborák, Martin Kasík, Roberto Giordano, Jennifer Frautschi and Daishin Kashimoto. He represented the Czech Republic at the EXPO 2005 in Aichi, Japan. He performed at the festivals Les Heures Romantiques au Pays de Monthodon, Lange Nacht der Musik in Vienna, Les Journées Romantiques du Vaisseau Fantôme in Paris, Shafran Festival at Waldenburg Castle, Chopin Festival in Mariánské Lázně, Prague Music Festival and others. He performed in the Avro Klassiek series at the Dutch Concertgebouw and in the cycle of the Czech Chamber Music Society at the Czech Philharmonic. He has made several films for Czech Radio, BBC Radio 3, ORF, Radio 4 Netherlands, Romanian Radio and Japanese television NHK. In 2008, his debut CD with pianist Frédéric Lagarde was released. In 2011, Patočka recorded a CD of violin concertos by František Benda with the Prague Chamber Orchestra without a conductor. Roman Patočka has been the concertmaster of the Prague Symphony Orchestra since the 2021/22 season.
